about the way our transport systems are run can help drivers and
transit riders make personal travel choices, and suggest ways
to improve or even enjoy the daily journey. The open discussion
of larger planning and funding challenges may even allow commuters
and travelers to have a say in transport policy on the municipal,
provincial or national level. Then there is the joy of traveling
-- intentionally savouring the voyage, especially by rail or water.
Readers who appreciate the trip itself can use travel stories

Ed Drass has been writing about transit in Metro Toronto
since June 2003. His Traffic Guru columns on transportation
issues first appeared in the National Post in 1998 and have
been reprinted in over 25 daily newspapers from Victoria to
Halifax.
In Transit, which appears Tuesdays and Thursdays in Metro
Toronto, addresses the concerns, complaints and inspirations
of commuters in one of NorthAmerica’s most transit-friendly
cities.
Ed knows his way around the Toronto area thanks to years as
a professional
delivery driver and as a transit advocate. He graduated from
York University
with a specialty in urban studies and has travelled
extensively in Canada,
the United States and Europe.
